confirmed that two Peruvians who had been detained in Venezuela were freed in recent hours and are now receiving assistance to return to our country.
In a communiqué issued on Wednesday evening, the Executive Branch institution specified that the individuals are citizens Ricardo Melendez and Arturo Paredes.
"Their release followed the various efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," the statement indicated.
It added that through Peru's Interests Section in Caracas—currently managed by the Brazilian Embassy—the necessary actions are being carried out to provide the appropriate consular assistance.
The government agency noted that coordination efforts have been initiated to facilitate the prompt return of both Peruvian citizens to the national territory.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the well-being and integrity of Peruvians abroad. In this regard, Peru continues its efforts to secure the release of other fellow citizens who remain detained in Venezuelan territory," the statement concluded.
