Peru: Police search for U.S. tourist reported missing in Cusco

13:32 | Cusco (Cusco region), May. 26.

Agents from the Cusco Police Region are conducting investigations and inquiries to locate 33-year-old U.S. tourist Brittini Nicole Harper, who was reported missing at the Tourism Police Station in the Imperial City.

Cusco Tourism Police Chief, PNP Commander Ricardina Diaz, confirmed to Andina News Agency that the visitor's father, Mark Richard Harper, 60, filed the missing person report on May 21, 2026.

Diaz added that efforts to locate her have been underway ever since.

According to preliminary investigations, the visitor arrived in Cusco on May 19, 2025, for tourism purposes.

She was scheduled to travel to Colombia on July 31 of that same year.

However, the airline allegedly did not allow her to board with her pet because it lacked a rabies vaccination.

Police requested information on the tourist's immigration movements from the National Superintendence of Migrations' Cusco Office.

The report they received indicated that she left Cusco on July 31; however, authorities are requesting evidence to confirm it.

"We have requested that the airline provide us with a report confirming whether she actually traveled or not," the police officer said.

Brittini Nicole's father told police that they lost telephone contact in February and that he learned she had been staying at an Airbnb in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, likely in Urubamba province.

The investigation into the disappearance was referred to the Missing Persons Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division (Divincri).

Authorities will seek to geolocate the movements of her cellphone, which has been switched off since February.

In Cusco city and nearby locations, agents from the Tourism Police Station and other specialized units are conducting inquiries.

"Tourism Police officers have gone to the Sacred Valley to distribute the alert notice and conduct inquiries to determine whether anyone saw her in that area," she said.

The missing woman is fair-skinned, with light brown hair, stands 1.65 meters tall, has a slim build, and was accompanied by a husky dog.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact the Peruvian National Police by calling 105.
