The President of China Xi Jinping welcomed his Peruvian counterpart Dina Boluarte on Friday during an official ceremony held at the East Plaza of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Both leaders met during the last stage of the Peruvian Head of State's trip to the People's Republic of China. After their meeting, they presided over the signing of agreements.

Before meeting with the Chinese president, Peru's top official met with National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Leji and with the Asian Giant's Premier Li Qiang.

The Peruvian leader's day in Beijing was also marked by the news of the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that shook Peru's southern region of Arequipa earlier today and which, according to the information released so far, has left no fatalities, but material damage.

Before arriving in the Chinese capital, President Boluarte visited the cities of Shenzhen and Shanghai, where, among other activities, she inaugurated an exhibition and met with executives from companies such as Huawei Technology Company, the BYD automotive company, and Cosco Shipping —the corporation that leads the consortium which is building the Chancay Megaport.
