U.S. Ambassador: We will continue supporting Peru on security matters

15:00 | Lima Apr. 23.

United States Ambassador to Peru, Bernie Navarro, said his country will continue supporting Peru on security matters because it understands that this is one of the most important issues for Peruvians.

"The most important issue for Peruvians is security, and the United States is committed to Peru's security," he told TV Peru on Thursday.

In that regard, he said the U.S. is "very pleased with the deal that was sealed" between the two countries for the purchase of F-16 Block 70 jets from Lockheed Martin.

The ambassador noted the company is one of the largest in his country.

"Signing the contract shows that Peru wants to do business and wants to be a trading partner of the United States," Navarro stressed.

The ambassador said his country wants to ensure that Peru is a prosperous nation.

"We want to ensure that, with the deal that was finalized, it reflects seriousness, and that we can attract capital and U.S. companies to invest in Peru," he concluded.
