Ricardo Gareca returns to Lima to decide his future as Peru coach

11:06 | Lima, Aug. 2.

Argentine Ricardo Gareca on Wednesday night arrived in Lima to decide if he will renew his contract as Peru's national soccer team coach.

Amid great expectation, the strategist landed at Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport on a commercial flight, joined by his lawyer Mario Cupelli.

Upon arrival, the Argentine was applauded by dozens of supporters who tried to take pictures with him.

"Thanks for coming, for being here," he expressed.

Gareca also recalled he had said —at the latest press conference— he was going to take a month to think things over.

He is expected to hold a meeting with Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) Sports Manager Juan Carlos Oblitas, who will do his best to convince him to remain as team coach
