The President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori, is participating in the inauguration of the first industrial-scale fish processing plant in Ucayali, located in the Callería District, Coronel Portillo Province.

The new facility, implemented by the Ministry of Production (Produce) through the Institute for Production Technology (ITP), required a public investment of over 24.9 million soles.

It will enable the processing of fish species—such as paiche, paco, and gamitana—into products with higher added value.

The plant will feature three specialized processing lines: for cured, frozen, and ensiled products. Offerings will include fillets, burgers, nuggets, medallions, smoked items, and dried-salted products, with the potential for sale in both domestic and international markets.

Additionally, the facility will house microbiology and physicochemical laboratories, cold-chain systems, and water treatment plants for both potable water and wastewater, all aimed at strengthening the quality, safety, and environmental sustainability of the production processes.

Benefiting artisanal fishers

Through the ITP, the CITEproductivo Pucallpa center will provide services in technology transfer, training, technical assistance, and innovation.

This initiative is expected to benefit more than 1,120 artisanal fishers annually, as well as traders and other stakeholders within the fishing and aquaculture supply chain.

The commissioning of this infrastructure will expand the operational capacity of the CITE center and bolster services designed to improve the productivity and competitiveness of businesses linked to Amazonian fishing activities.

As part of the official proceedings, President Keiko Fujimori is taking part in the unveiling of a plaque and the inaugural ribbon-cutting ceremony.

She is also touring the facilities and the exhibition areas showcasing products created by the micro and small enterprises supported by the center.

Also participating in the ceremony are the Minister of Production, Juan Requejo; the Regional Governor of Ucayali, Manuel Gambini; and the Provincial Mayor of Coronel Portillo, Janet Castagne, alongside local authorities and representatives from the productive sector.
