The Presidency of the Republic has welcomed the authorization granted by Congress so that Head of State Dina Boluarte is allowed to officially travel to Brazil next week.

The trip —from August 7 to 9— will have as main item on the agenda Mrs. Boluarte's participation in the Fourth Presidential Meeting of the States Parties to the Amazon Cooperation Treaty.

The top official is expected to hold meetings with counterparts from other participating countries, including Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Under the protection of a regulation enacted after its approval at Parliament last June, the top official will continue to perform her duties as Head of State through remote work mechanisms.

Concerning the role that Mrs. Boluarte will play at this event, she indicated that Peru will issue a message referring to an Amazon with humane face.

In the pursuit of this goal, our country can play an important role in the world, she noted.

Approval

62 votes in favor of the authorization, 32 against the initiative, and 7 abstentions were registered on the occasion.
