Peru Deputy FA Minister meets with FAO Director-General

Peruvian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Jaime Pomareda held a meeting with the new Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Dr. Qu Dongyu in the Italian capital city.

During the meeting —held on Monday at FAO headquarters—, Pomareda extended his congratulations to Dr. Qu for his recent election and expressed the Peruvian Government's willingness to boost relations with FAO

In this sense, he underlined the Inca nation's commitment to strengthening multilateralism and international cooperation, not only as a country that receives cooperation, but also as a nation that offers South-South and triangular cooperation. 

On his part, the FAO Director-General recognized the importance of Peru as a source of great biodiversity and a food supplier with an immense potential to face the main global challenges such as the elimination of hunger and malnutrition.
