Levi used to work very close to the border with Gaza and had been reported missing.

"From Tel Aviv, I have just received the sad news that the death of Peruvian doctor Daniel Levi —one of the people we had (registered) as missing— has been confirmed. I have conveyed the condolences from the government and my own to his family," he said in remarks to Radio Exitosa.

The diplomat commented that the Hamas terrorist incursion, which left hundreds dead, had taken place in the area where Levi used to work.
