National Elections Board (JNE) spokesperson Jorge Valdivia reaffirmed on Tuesday that July 3 remains the estimated date for the official proclamation of the 2026 General Elections presidential vote results.

"Around July 3, the National Elections Board (JNE) plenary is expected to issue the official record proclaiming the election results. (...) If it can be brought forward, the proclamation date can be moved up, but for now we are still working toward the planned date of July 3," Valdivia said at a press conference.

The official reported that, as of 7:00 a.m. today, six of the 60 Special Electoral Boards (JEEs) established for the electoral process had yet to complete the proclamation of decentralized results.

He explained that five JEEs will proclaim their results during the course of today, leaving only the Huanuco JEE pending, whose proclamation is scheduled for Wednesday.

Electoral process

Asked about the Together for Peru Party's presidential candidate's intention to take his case to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, Valdivia said any citizen has the right to submit petitions to the authorities permitted by law.

Yet the official mentioned that electoral processes follow successive stages that are subject to preclusion.

"There are certain principles, such as legal certainty, under which electoral timelines in our country are carried out in accordance with the established milestones," Valdivia said.

"Once the results have been proclaimed, credentials have been awarded and, ultimately, the electoral process has been officially concluded, the process is over and those stages cannot be reversed," he noted.

Transparency measures

Regarding the concerns raised after the first round election, the official explained that corrective measures were taken for the runoff by deciding to make all oversight activities fully transparent.

"It was decided that, for the runoff, we would make all the oversight records transparent. You were able to follow all of that on the National Elections Board's electronic portal, (...) so that citizens can be reassured by the results that have been announced and that we will soon proclaim," he concluded.
