The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, on Friday announced that natural gas service will be restored nationwide on Saturday, March 14.

Within this framework, the Head of State noted that the contingency has been fully addressed and resolved, adding that the pipelines are completely repaired and operational.

"Yesterday, Thursday, at 10:42 p.m., the contingency recorded at point KP 43 (Cusco region) was fully addressed and overcome. We, therefore, announce that the natural gas and liquids transport pipelines are completely repaired and fully operational," Balcazar said at a press conference.

Consequently, "gas transport has resumed in a comprehensive manner since 6:00 a.m.," he pointed out.

Likewise, the top official said progressive natural gas distribution for the transport sector has begun, particularly for taxi drivers and 900 small industrial operators, with gas supply at service stations gradually being restored.

"The government's immediate response and constant, coordinated work with the private sector have made it possible to move up the initially planned timetable," he added.

The President specified that "tomorrow, Saturday, natural gas distribution supply will be fully restored for everyone."

"I would particularly like to commend citizens' understanding, as by reluctantly rationing their use of gas they have given us the time and calm required to address the situation promptly and swiftly," he added.

The top official noted that the technical team led by the Ministry of Energy and Mines worked tirelessly in coordination with the private sector.

"It has been possible to overcome this very serious impasse that had occurred and that was worrying families across the country and the public in general. As I have just indicated, it has been resolved," he emphasized.
