Peru’s 2026 Elections: OAS Electoral Observation Mission begins preliminary visit

The Organization of American States (OAS) Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) in Peru began a preliminary visit on Wednesday to monitor the ongoing electoral process.



During its stay in the country, the delegation will hold high-level meetings with authorities from the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), the National Elections Board (JNE), and the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC), as well as talks with representatives of the Executive Branch, political actors, and civil society members.

These meetings will allow the group to learn first-hand about different perspectives on the development of the current democratic process in Peru.

This marks the 24th Electoral Observation Mission deployed by the OAS in Peru.
