U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio talked with President Jose Jeri today to reaffirm the United States' commitment to a collaborative partnership, reported Chief Spokesperson Tommy Pigott.

According to Pigott, the Secretary of State highlighted the enduring ties between the United States and Peru, established over nearly 200 years of diplomatic relations.

Rubio also emphasized the importance of strengthening security cooperation and supporting Peru's initiatives to combat crime in the hemisphere.

They also agreed to continue close cooperation on shared priorities, including combating drug trafficking and strengthening regional stability, Pigott said.
