The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Wednesday received the baton of command that recognizes her as Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces and the National Police of Peru.

The ceremony was held at the Government Palace Courtyard of Honor, where Armed Forces and National Police delegations had arrived for said act.

It is the first time in Peru's republican history that a woman receives the baton as Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces and the National Police for holding the highest investiture in the country as President of the Republic.

Ministers Jorge Chavez Cresta (Defense), Vicente Romero (Interior), and high military commanders attended the event.

Earlier today, the President led a session of the Council of Ministers —also at the Government Palace in Lima.
