The Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed a coordination and cooperation alliance in order to propose innovative alternatives for the fight against corruption.

The aim of the alliance is to lay the foundation for the design and implementation of evaluation proposals, as well as the strengthening of transparency, accountability, and integrity policies in the public sector.

The signing ceremony, which took place on February 9, was attended by Comptroller General Nelson Shack and UNDP Resident Representative in Peru Bettina Woll.

This alliance promotes the strong commitment that both institutions have in preventing and fighting against corruption in the country.

Background of the fight against corruption

The mission of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic —as the governing body of the National Control System— is to direct and supervise government control efficiently and effectively, guiding its actions towards strengthening and transparency in the management of entities, the promotion of values, and the responsibility of public servants.

Likewise, it contributes to the decision-making throughout all branches of the State and supports citizens in their adequate participation in social control.

UNDP helps fight corruption with initiatives such as the Anti-corruption Innovation Lab (ACIL) in partnership with the Group for the Analysis of Development (GRADE), which is a space for dialogue and co-creation of evidence to implement anti-corruption policies with State actors, civil society, the private sector, academia, and international cooperation.
