Peru, Australia, Botswana, Canada, and the United States signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation for stable governance in the mining sector for energy purposes and promotion of mining activities that make up the supply chain.

The document was signed on Tuesday by Peru's Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Energy-Mines, the U.S. Department of State, as well as competent authorities of Australia, Botswana, and Canada.

The MoU is part of the Initiative on Governance of Mineral Resources for Energy Purposes, whose purpose is to promote cooperation in the mining sector for energy purposes.

This cooperation will be carried out through the exchange of experiences and good practices, the use of eco-friendly technologies, and the promotion of investment in responsible mining practices.

This plurilateral instrument reinforces the Peruvian Government's commitment to ensuring sustainable management of its natural resources and promoting responsible business conduct.

Likewise, it responds to the interest of Peru to broaden and deepen bilateral economic ties, as well as foster technical cooperation spaces with relevant partners in the mining sector, such as Australia, Botswana, Canada, and the United States.
