INEI: Peru's economy up 11.83% in August 2021

14:19 | Lima, Oct. 15.

Peruvian national production grew 11.83% in August 2021 over the same month last year, due to the positive performance of most economic sectors, with the exception of fisheries, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported on Friday.

Accumulated growth

In its National Production technical report, INEI indicated that —between January and August 2021— Peru's GDP expanded by 18.59%.

Meanwhile, the country's economic activity rose 10.46% in the 12-month period ending August 2021.

It should be pointed out that in the base month (August 2020) the third phase of Peru's economic revival was still ongoing, and a series of economic activities remained at a standstill at that time, while others were permitted with restrictions.

Among the most outstanding sectors in the eight month of this year were manufacturing; construction; trade; transportation, storage, and messaging; as well as accommodation and restaurants.
