The Executive Branch declared November 14, 15, and 16, 2024, as non-working days in Lima Metropolitan Area and the Constitutional Province of Callao due to the holding of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

This measure will apply to public and private sector workers, according to Supreme Decree No. 110-2024-PCM, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on October 11.

The legal provision notes that the main event of the aforementioned forum will be held on November 14, 15, and 16, with the participation of APEC Economic Leaders.

It added that various measures must be adopted for the attention and safety of visitors.

Therefore, it is advisable to declare such days as non-working days.

The decree establishes that hours not worked will be compensated in both the public and private sectors.

However, for tax purposes, November 14 and 15, 2024, are considered business days.

In the public sector, hours not worked during non-working days established in the preceding article are compensated within 15 days immediately thereafter, or at the time, or in the manner established by the head of each public entity.

In the private sector, the manner in which the compensation for lost hours is made effective will be established by agreement between the employer and employees; in the absence of an agreement, the employer decides.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
