The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, on Thursday presented the National Citizen Security Plan to the National Citizen Security Council (Conasec).

Within this framework, the Head of State said the proposal will make it possible to unify all levels of government and society as a whole in the fight against insecurity and crime.

During Conasec's first ordinary session in 2026, held at the Government Palace, the top official said that "living in a climate of peace is a right all Peruvians deserve."

"We are presenting the plan for your consideration, debate, and approval. This is the proposal submitted by the Executive Branch. Every plan can be improved, but we must have a tool that unites us in this war we are going to win," he stated.

The President indicated that the proposal submitted by the Executive Branch was reached through consensus and differs because it includes measurement tools and seeks immediate results.

"The statistics and results we present provide support and a clear rationale for the continuation of the efforts already made. They set ambitious results and objectives and give us the impetus to present this tool with a clear direction and purpose so that it transcends individual authorities, because it is a tool for the State," he indicated.

The President said the plan serves as a roadmap for Peru to move toward security because a safe country is an important destination for investment, and greater investment will increase the capacity to close social gaps.

"Today, we reaffirm our commitment as a State and as a government to strengthening the response to organized crime and common delinquency," Jeri stated.

At another point, he highlighted the actions led by ministers and by himself, in his capacity as President of the Republic, which demonstrate the administration’s commitment to the goals set.
