Presidential candidate Rafael Lopez Aliaga, representing Renovacion Popular (Popular Renewal party), cast his vote at a polling place in Lima's San Isidro district on Sunday.

The party leader arrived this morning at the main headquarters of the State-owned oil company Petroperu, where voting booths had been set up in the parking area.

At polling table No. 047934, located at station No. 201, the aspirant exercised his right to vote.

In remarks to the press, Lopez Aliaga said he will await the results while remaining attentive to reports from his party representatives.

In that context, he indicated that he had received complaints about difficulties and delays in setting up polling tables and voting, both within Peru and abroad, such as in Barcelona, Spain, and Tampa, Florida, United States.

Before heading to vote, Lopez Aliaga held a breakfast event in Pamplona Alta, an area of Lima's San Juan de Lurigancho district, where he was accompanied by Congresswoman Norma Yarrow, a member of his presidential ticket.

After listening to a poem recited by a young resident, the candidate delivered a speech in which he referred to his years as a municipal councilman and later as Metropolitan Lima mayor.

At the end of this activity, in brief remarks to the press, he expressed confidence in his party representatives, who —he said— are deployed nationwide and "around the world."

The 2026 General Elections began at 7:00 a.m., with more than 27 million Peruvians expected to vote until 6:00 p.m. to choose national authorities and congressional representatives.
