National Geographic launches Peru's first camping explorers legion

09:20 | Lima, Dec. 4.

For the first time in the country, National Geographic Camping Peru officially announced the first legion of explorers, an unprecedented initiative aimed at promoting outdoor activities such as camping, exploration, and connecting with nature across various Peruvian regions.

This launch marks a milestone in promoting responsible tourism and showcasing the landscapes and ecosystems that enrich our territory.

As part of this announcement, NatGeo Camping Peru also presented the 1st National Audiovisual Formats Contest 2025.

The competition aims to discover new creative talents capable of capturing the majesty of Peru, its biodiversity, its communities, and the camping experience as a means to connect authentically with the natural environment.

Regarding this, Magdalena del Mar District's Deputy Mayor Ricardo Florez highlighted the work of the National Geographic Camping Peru team for its disruptive and creative approach to promoting Peruvian talent in the audiovisual sector.

"As representatives of the Municipality of Magdalena del Mar, we congratulate this initiative and acknowledge the positive impact it is having on Peruvian youth," Florez stated.

"Projects like this not only foster creativity but also strengthen identity, innovation, and the connection with our territory. It is an honor to support actions that inspire exploration, protection, and appreciation of Peru," he added.

Since May of this year, the National Geographic Camping Peru team has traveled to and documented various locations across the country.

Their goal is to identify the next audiovisual storytellers and content creators who will bring to the world the stories born in our living landscapes.

The fieldwork allowed the team to document emblematic territories, as well as promote the participation of young explorers and audiovisual creators.

In this regard, National Geographic Camping Peru explorer Marina Gozalo shared her experience after months of expedition. Similarly, she thanked every individual, authority, company, and institution for showing their support.

"After this experience, all I can say is that I will continue showcasing Peru as a country full of beautiful destinations and, above all, with teams working toward the same goal: to be agents of real positive change for the benefit of all Peruvians and those living in our country," Gozalo expressed.

Moreover, the explorer extended a special thanks to the media, authorities, and organizations for their support.

Gozalo also recognized the various regions of Peru—Arequipa, Cajamarca, Ica, Amazonas (Chachapoyas), Ucayali (Pucallpa), and Lima (Lunahuana)—for their valuable contribution during the explorations conducted by National Geographic Camping Peru.

"Let's keep fighting for our dreams. Peru is a beautiful country and deserves the best from us. I invite you to explore each of its destinations. Let's explore, let's camp, let's travel. Onward to more—what will be the next destination?" she said.

Thanks to this nationwide call, National Geographic Camping Peru aims to reaffirm its commitment to promoting Peruvian talent, encouraging sustainable tourism, and strengthening the connection between people and nature through camping across the country's diverse regions.
