Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that on May 2, 1826, Peru and the United States established diplomatic relations, marking 200 years of a fruitful and solid partnership.
"On a day like today, May 2, 1826, Peru and the United States of America established diplomatic relations, thus marking 200 years of a fruitful and solid relationship of friendship and partnership based on shared principles and interests such as respect for democracy and the rule of law, the promotion of trade and investment, and development," it expressed on X.
The Ministry emphasized that the strong partnership is strengthened by the contributions of Peruvian and U.S. citizens who have been an integral part of this history of friendship.
In turn, the United States Embassy in Lima commemorated the bicentennial of diplomatic relations.
"Today we join the people of Peru in celebrating 200 years of diplomatic relations between our nations," the mission stated on X.
Likewise, the U.S. Government underscored that "our relationship grows stronger as we expand trade and investment, deepen defense cooperation to combat narcoterrorism."
It also highlighted the advancement of "the Artemis Accords and critical minerals cooperation to support peaceful space exploration and secure resilient supply chains."
