Despite the heavy rain falling on Machu Picchu, in Cusco, Canadian movie star Jim Carrey began this afternoon his tour around the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu feeling utterly amazed by the architecture and majesty of this site.
The Hollywood actor entered to the Inca sanctuary at 13:00 hours, after arriving in the Machu Picchu district on the Hiram Bingham train and taking a bus for a 30-minute ride.
From the beginning, the actor of movie hits ‘The Mask’ and ‘How the Grinch stole Christmas’, was recognized by locals and tourists, who kept taking photos of him.
The Huayna Picchu or “Young Mountain”, as well as the temple of the three windows and the famous Intihuatana Stone made a good impression on him, which was reflected in his face.
After arriving in Peru’s southern Cusco region yesterday from Brazil, Carrey posted on his Twitter account that he was visiting Peru to “search out ancient civilizations” and said that he was planning to climb to the top of Machu Picchu.
In recent years, Machu Picchu has been visited by several celebrities such as Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Cameron Diaz and Bill Gates, among others.
