Canadian actor Jim Carrey, lead actor of box office hits ‘The Mask’ and ‘How the Grinch stole Christmas,’ arrived late Wednesday in Cusco to visit the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.
Carrey arrived from Brazil where he promoted his latest movie ‘Mr. Popper’s Penguins’ and seized the opportunity to visit Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the new wonders of the world, and other tourist attractions.
After leaving Brazil, Carrey posted on his Twitter account that he was visiting Peru to “search out ancient civilizations” and said that he was planning to climb to the top of Machu Picchu.
The Hollywood actor took a picture of the Peruvian Andes and tweeted: “Machu Picchu that is. I plan to climb to the top, say,"How day do dat [sic]?"
Another tweet says: “Here I will search out ancient civilizations and decifer the Origins of the Incan #BOING that built Machu Piccu [sic].”
It was reported that Carrey is to visit Thursday the district of Machu Picchu, which is located in Urubamba, to know the Inca citadel of the same name.
In recent years, Machu Picchu has been visited by several celebrities such as Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Cameron Diaz and Bill Gates among others.
