The Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) will strengthen Peru's country brand at South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in the United States, where innovation initiatives of 10 national undertakings will be shown.

Country Brand Deputy Director Mariella Soldi told Andina news agency that startups will be Peru's best letter of introduction to the event —set for March 9-18 in Austin, Texas.

Peruvian startups participating in the SXSW Trade Show include Arrivedo, Chazki, Drop, SpaceDat, ANDA, and Koru. These entrepreneurship projects are intended to promote the use of digital tools, technology, and software.

"One of the most important things Austin has is the number of investment funds for innovation and startups. It is a very good opportunity for companies heading there," she said.

In addition, Lima —as well as Austin— is part of the Sister Cities International network, which is set to house Casa Peru and the SXSW Festival.

The partnership has produced community projects in agriculture, crafts, health, and culture.

"This partnership will be an opportunity for Peruvian startups to approach investors," Soldi added.

Casa Peru

Casa Peru will give Peruvian entrepreneurs a better chance to approach investors. The initiative is intended to create experiences including Peruvian culture, music, and gastronomy.

The place is the Andean country's showcase aimed at entrepreneurs, potential tourists, and overseas buyers.

It must be noted the SXSW Trade Show will include a space for negotiations, too.
