The Palais des Nations (Palace of Nations) —home to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG)— currently hosts a Peruvian Gastronomic Week, the Andean country's Foreign Affairs Ministry informed.

Running thru June 23, the culinary activity takes place on the occasion of the first Sustainable Gastronomy Day (June 18), a Peruvian initiative adopted by the United Nations General Assembly last December.

For a week, United Nations officials and international delegates attending various events at UNOG headquarters get the chance to taste some of the Inca nation's internationally-renowned cuisine.

Peruvian specialties are available as a special gourmet menu at the Restaurant des Delegues, as well as a daily menu at the main cafeteria.

Traditional snacks and beverages are also offered in all other cafeterias and bars at the Palace.

The perfect timing —which coincides with UN Human Rights Council sessions— guarantees a large turnout and hence major promotion of Peruvian gastronomy

In this context, Monday's lunchtime menu included a tasting of Pisco Sour, the Andean nation's flagship cocktail.

Peruvian Gastronomic Week is organized by Peru's Permanent Mission to International Organizations and Peruvian food restaurant Pachacamac.
