The Government of Peru has welcomed the announcement by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to suspend its nuclear program and intercontinental ballistic missile tests.
"This suspension contributes to easing the tension in the Korean peninsula," Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry said Tuesday in a statement.
"It is a constructive step towards restoring dialogue between the parties aimed at the elimination of nuclear weapons," reads the release.
On Friday, South Korean Yonhap news agency reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un had announced the suspension of nuclear and missile tests, as well as the shutting down of his country's nuclear test site.
