The volume of public and private construction works increased 42.4% in October this year from the same month in 2016, Peru's Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported on Tuesday.
So much so that the volume of
construction works —including real estate projects, malls, and business centers— grew 42.4% over the same month last year.
This result was explained by the progress made in urban infrastructure works and by road improvements, among others.
For its part, domestic cement consumption expanded 6.6% in the tenth month of the year, bolstered by a stronger growth in private investment.
The bank stressed the fact that cement demand went up in almost every region across the country, with the exception of central Peru.
Finally, BCR said construction sector
climbed by 14.3% in October —the highest rate since July 2013— underpinned by a rebound in public and private investment.
