Peru to face Germany after 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia

Alemania es una de las favoritas para levantar el título mundial de Rusia 2018

13:12 | Lima, Mar. 9.

Peru's Soccer Federation (FPF) has signed an agreement for the Inca team to face Germany —the reigning World Champion— in a friendly match to be played following the 2018 World Cup Russia.

The future clash has been slated for September 8 in a German city still to be confirmed.

This will be the first FIFA date after the sporting mega-event, in which Germany is one of the favorite teams.

It must be noted both sides have met —only once— at the 1970 FIFA World Cup Mexico.

On that occasion, the Germans defeated the red-white with a score of 3-1.

The three European goals were made by Gerd Müller, whereas Teofilo Cubillas managed to score one for the South Americans.

Germany has won four World Cups (1954, 1974, 1990, and 2014), as well as the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017.

Likewise, this European squad tops the current FIFA World Ranking, whereas the Peruvian counterpart ranks eleventh.

As is known, Peru in 2017 managed to qualify for a World Cup tournament after 36 years.
