Amid joy and cheers from fans, Peruvian soccer team left for Argentina's capital city on Wednesday for its penultimate FIFA World Cup qualifier.

More than 100 supporters gathered at Lima-based National Sports Village (Videna) to see the players off and wish them the best luck.

Afterwards, a bus brought the 28 players to Lima's Air Group N°8, where a charter flight was awaiting them.

Couched by Ricardo Gareca, the national squad is expected to arrive in Argentina at 7:30 PM local time.

The crucial match will be held at Estadio Alberto J. Armando —widely known as La Bombonera— on September 5 at 8:30 PM local time (6:30 PM in Peru).

Early on Tuesday, President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski hoped a victory against the "Albicelestes" (sky blue and whites).

"Peru-Argentina match is clearly going to be difficult. I hope we can win the last two games. We have to qualify for the World Cup," the statesman commented.
