Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) board will intend to convince Argentina-born Ricardo Gareca to remain as the team coach thru the entire 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar process, FPF President Edwin Oviedo said.
Such measure is taken as Gareca will probably get some job offers from other teams.
"We're convinced Ricardo Gareca can lead us in Qatar [2022]. There will probably be some good offers from other clubs and national teams, and that's good for Gareca," Oviedo said.
"But I'm sure we have the upper hand over the others, due to what the coach has
achieved with the team," he emphasized.
A better infrastructure in Peru
Oviedo also assured the money FPF will get from FIFA —due to
Peru's qualification for the World Cup— will be invested in infrastructure, empowering Peruvian soccer, as well as increasing investments in the national U-13 team.
"[Peruvian] soccer needs better and more infrastructure for youth and female national teams. We have to improve such aspects to further develop soccer in the country," the FPF officer told Radio Nacional.
As is known, Oviedo, Gareca and Peru's team manager Antonio Garcia Pye will travel to Moscow (Russia) on November 27 to attend the final draw for the 2018 World Cup groups.
