Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday requested young citizens of the Americas to keep the agents-of-change spirit and become lead actors in the fight against problems such as corruption.

At the opening the 5th Young Americas Forum —comprised in the activities of the 8th Summit of the Americas— the President called on youth to maintain their faith in democracy and to work actively with the purpose of combating corruption.

"You are the lead players to face the problems that afflict our societies," the Head of State expressed.

"Only through your tireless commitment, dynamism, and efforts can we achieve prosperity and development in our countries," he concluded.

Vizcarra was joined by Organization of Americas States (OAS) Secretary-General Luis Almagro on the occasion.

The 8th Summit of the Americas will take place in Lima on April 13-14. On this occasion, Peru will welcome dignitaries from 33 nations.

At this event, high-ranking officials from the hemisphere will undertake concrete commitments on the topic "Democratic Governance against Corruption."
