Peru President reaffirms commitment to potable water supply

12:48 | Lima, Feb. 7.

President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Wednesday reiterated the Government's commitment to providing potable water, sewer, and other services to the entire population.

Mr. Kuczynski's remarks were made during the visit he paid to San Juan de Lurigancho district in order to monitor water and sewer expansion works in favor of more than 70,000 inhabitants.

According to the statesman, the area faces a shortage of potable water or, at best, water supply is limited to certain hours a day.

This situation will change as soon as the works are completed since the laying of new pipelines will guarantee access to potable water 24/7.

In this sense, he noted the Government works "every day" to provide water to all Peruvians despite the many difficulties it faces.

He went on to say the country needs an efficient transport system.

To solve the problem, the Government is purchasing more trains, which is intended to reduce the waiting time at each station from 15 to 3 minutes.

President Kuczynski was joined by Ministers Carlos Bruce (Housing, Construction, and Sanitation) and Ana Maria Choquehuanca (Women and Vulnerable Populations).
