Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Monday emphasized that the recent political crisis facing the Inca country has been defeated.
The statesman underlined the crisis affected the development of State administrative procedures and the execution of public works.
"(…) the political crisis has affected the entire formal development of administrative procedures. However, I believe the crisis has been overcome, doing strictly what it is stated in the Constitution," he stated.
Within this framework, Peru's top official stressed the need to start working on those projects so as to speed them up, as well as to boost public investment and economic recovery across the country.
"We want to
restore confidence in institutions. It is not an easy task. We need to build trust with all actions and, to do so, we have a team that is willing to work with the utmost transparency and honesty," he added.
The latest political crisis got worse with the release of clandestine videos showing ex-President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's allies allegedly attempting to buy votes ahead of an impeachment vote.
Circumstances
forced Kuczynski to resign from his post and give way to Vice-President Martin Vizcarra, according to the Peruvian Constitution.
Remarks were made within the framework of GORE-Executive (Executive Branch and Regional Governors Meeting) held at Lima's Government Palace.
The two-day meeting, which features Peruvian ministers and regional governors, is aimed to spur actions that will encourage further development in the nation.
