Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski noted the government's actions to develop and strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which he described as the largest employment source for Peruvians.
For instance, he assured Peru's National Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) is more friendly with
SMEs when it comes to taxation.
Peru's top official said small and medium-sized companies comprise a large portion of the country's workforce, encompassing 51.4% of female jobs, which demonstrates women's entrepreneurship and the appreciation people have for them.
"SMEs and MSEs comprise the largest employer in Peru […] with more than 8 million workers and over 4 million women employed in this sector," he said at the closing of the
10th APEC 2017 SME Summit in Lima.
Additionally, he referred to a set of regulations "to simplify the life of small enterprises," which have been adopted in various departments of the Executive Branch during his first year in office.
Small investors
The statesman emphasized small and medium-sized companies need "fresh ideas and a good economic environment."
This will help investors decide where or how to invest their money. Plus, they will deliberate whether to go into debt or hire more employees.
