Education is a shared responsibility, in which national, regional, and local governments join efforts for Peruvian students to have the best educational infrastructure, President Martin Vizcarra affirmed Wednesday.
"
Education is a sector to which we all must contribute, (...) it is a shared competence and responsibility," the
statesman pointed out.
"We are all responsible, and we must join efforts. The regional government and the municipalities strive to
improve education (quality), and we (the Executive Branch) have to do the same," he added.
Within this context, Vizcarra explained the State is obliged to provide all students with better infrastructure in order to
enhance learning conditions.
The Peruvian leader also remarked 40% of schools in the Inca nation do not have basic services or well-equipped classrooms, which constitutes a
great task to be fulfilled.
Likewise, Peru's top official highlighted the
work done by educators, who unselfishly give their time to prepare their classes.
In this sense, he noted teachers are one of the most important foundations for the development of all citizens.
Remarks were made during his visit to northern Lambayeque region's Chiclayo province, where he oversaw the delivery of school infrastructure.
