Pope Francis on Saturday afternoon led an ecclesiastical meeting with the priests, religious authorities, and seminarists belonging to the 11 ecclesiastical districts in northern Peru.
His Holiness called on the religious to preach communion and unity in the face of a fragmented world.
"In the fragmented world we have to live in, which pushes us towards isolation, we are challenged to become creators and prophets of a sense of community because no one is saved alone," the Supreme Pontiff said during the meeting.
In this sense, the Bishop of Rome pointed out division, wars, and estrangement are not merely an external issue, but problems "we also experience within our communities."
"Jesus sends you to be bearers of communion and unity, but sometimes it seems like we do this in a disunited manner, and worse yet, trying to trip each other up […]," he added.
