Peruvian Prime Minister Mercedes Araoz on Thursday stated her administration will work on two main axes: social revolution and fight against corruption.

Speaking before Congress, Araoz explained these pillars are in turn divided into four functional sub-groups.

"The measures we are bringing to Parliament explore two crosscutting themes concerning social revolution and fight against corruption," she underlined.

The functional sub-groups explore (i) the social agenda for equal opportunities, (ii) productive strengthening, (iii) consolidation of the economic recovery as well as (iv) safety and disaster prevention.

Social Revolution

The Cabinet chief pointed out the Government's main goal is "social revolution."

She said revolution entails a "change of approach to meet Peruvians' needs by identifying specific problems and working seamlessly with sectors to solve them."

"Building a school does not achieve a goal. A goal is accomplished when a child can shape his future thanks to a well-equipped school he attended, and the relevant knowledge he gained from teachers," Araoz said.

Finally, she said State services are not isolated. Therefore, she called on collaborative efforts to facilitate a dramatic change in the population.

Peru's Prime Minister attended a Congress session on Thursday to present her administration's guidelines to seek a vote of confidence.

Araoz was joined by the entire Ministerial Cabinet as she addressed lawmakers.
