Peru's non-traditional exports expanded 19.9% in February 2018 over the same month last year, thus accumulating 19 months of continuous growth, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported.
According to information available on March 28, the most demanded
non-traditional products were those derived from farming (+26.6%), textile (+10.8%), chemical (+31.8%),
iron-steel (+29.5%), and metal-mechanic (+40.8%) sectors.
In this regard, agriculture products such as coffee (+44.3%) and sugar (+710.4%) stood out.
It must be noted the Inca country's
total exports decreased 0.48% last February, after 19 straight months of positive performance.
Imports
In addition, INEI noted
imports expanded 9.18% in the second month of the current year compared to the similar term in 2017.
Purchases of consumer goods rose 13.43%, plus imports of commodities and intermediate products increased 7.88%.
Also, capital good and construction material purchases went up 7.94%.
