Peru's non-traditional exports amounted to US$982 million in February 2018, up by 19.1% from the same month last year, Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported.
"This way, growth rates remained positive since August 2016, due to higher sales of
farming, chemical,
iron-steel, textile, and metal-mechanic products," the financial entity informed.
According to BCR, the shipped volume rose 11.8% last February, mainly underpinned by higher exports from farming (+23.4%), chemical (+14.8%), and iron-steel (+10.1%) sectors.
In addition, the average price of
non-traditional goods saw a 6.5% increase, mostly those of iron-steel (+15.5%), chemical (+12.7%),
textile (+11.9%), and farming (+2.8%) products.
In terms of exported value, greater shipments of fresh grapes (+5.1%), mangoes (+45.4%),
zinc products (+37.7%), blueberries (+313.2%), prawn feed (+102.5%), and organic bananas (+31.6%) were registered in the analyzed period.
It must be noted North America (28%) and the
European Union (21.6%) were the top destinations for these Peruvians products.
