Peru's non-traditional exports amounted to US$982 million in February 2018, up by 19.1% from the same month last year, Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported.

"This way, growth rates remained positive since August 2016, due to higher sales of farming, chemical, iron-steel, textile, and metal-mechanic products," the financial entity informed.

According to BCR, the shipped volume rose 11.8% last February, mainly underpinned by higher exports from farming (+23.4%), chemical (+14.8%), and iron-steel (+10.1%) sectors.

In addition, the average price of non-traditional goods saw a 6.5% increase, mostly those of iron-steel (+15.5%), chemical (+12.7%), textile (+11.9%), and farming (+2.8%) products.

In terms of exported value, greater shipments of fresh grapes (+5.1%), mangoes (+45.4%), zinc products (+37.7%), blueberries (+313.2%), prawn feed (+102.5%), and organic bananas (+31.6%) were registered in the analyzed period.

It must be noted North America (28%) and the European Union (21.6%) were the top destinations for these Peruvians products.
