Authority for Reconstruction with Changes (RCC) Executive-Director Pablo de la Flor guaranteed the construction of permanent houses aimed at 'Coastal El Niño' victims in northern Peru.
Statements were made in a local TV show hosted by President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, titled "
Conversando con el Presidente" (A Conversation with the President).
"Fortunately, there are two housing programs administered by the [Housing] Ministry itself, which will fast track the
construction of permanent houses," he was quoted as saying.
RCC head hailed this as positive, since programs like Techo Propio (Own Roof) and Sitio Propio (Own Piece of Land) are underway. So such experience will be useful for the construction of houses.
"We don't have to start from scratch. The programs already exist. We just need to make them more flexible so as to provide the required permanent housing for those affected," he affirmed.
According to De la Flor, the reconstruction will entail an investment of S/20 billion (about US$6.15 billion) and is expected to be completed in 3 or 4 years.
Also, he said resources will come from the Emergency Fund, that is to say from past savings thanks to fiscal surplus.
