Peruvian economy expanded 2.5% in the third quarter of 2017, mainly underpinned by the positive evolution of domestic demand, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported Tuesday.
In this sense, INEI noted domestic demand experienced a 4% rise in the analyzed period.
Such growth was explained by increases in government consumption (+5.9%), investment (+4.1%), and
private consumption (+2.3%).
Likewise,
private and
public investments edged up 4% and 4.6%, respectively.
It must be noted the favorable evolution of foreign demand (4.1%) also contributed to said expansion.
On the other hand, imports rose 9.3% thanks to higher purchases of
raw materials, intermediate products, and capital goods, thus outpacing exports.
In addition, deseasonalized GDP grew 0.3% in the third quarter of 2017 from the same period last year.
