Lima's largest textile outlet —known as Gamarra Commerce Emporium— welcomes at least 150,000 people a day during the Summer season, its Business Association Chairman Diogenes Alva stated.

Thousands of people flock to Gamarra to buy clothing items for their families at affordable prices.

"They [customers] not only come from Lima and across the country but also from overseas and are interested in the quality and variety of our products [...]," Alva told Andina news agency.

At the emporium, each t-shirt costs between S/10 (about US$3.04) and S/30 (about US$9.14) depending on product's quality. Among the most preferred goods, cotton t-shirts, blouses and underwear items stand out.

In this sense, Gamarra entrepreneurs always bet on creating new designs with the objective of drawing shoppers' attention.

While the shopping mecca normally welcomes thousands of customers a day, the number can go up to half a million during peak season (December).

Concerning international buyers, main foreign customers come from Cuba, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia and Chile, among other countries.
