Peru's exports volume grew 12.7% in November 2017 from the same month the previous year, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed Wednesday.
According to INEI's "Evolution of Exports and Imports" report, said expansion was driven by higher shipments of
traditional (14.3%) and
non-traditional (8.7%) products.
Top export destinations were
China (33.1% of total exported value), the
United States (17%), Spain (6%), South Korea (4.2%), and Japan (4%).
Furthermore, Peruvian exports saw an 11.7% increase —in real terms— between January and November 2017, mostly underpinned by higher traditional shipments from
fishery (80.2%), petroleum-natural gas (29.7%), and mining (6.6%) sectors.
On the other hand, non-traditional shipments also contributed to said result.
Fishing (71.5%), metal-mechanic (15.7%), farming (6.5%), textile (4.9%), non-metallic mining (4%), and chemical (3.3%) sectors stood out in this sense.
INEI also highlighted the increasing demand for
copper in November 2017, which experienced a 21.6% expansion compared to the same term in 2016.
