Peru: Demand, employment expectations up in June 2017

Expectations regarding demand, employment and sales increased in Peru last June, the Central Reserve Bank's (BCR) latest Macroeconomic Expectations Survey revealed.

According to the report, all business expectations indicators remained optimistic in the sixth month of the year. 

Overall, 3 out of the 7 expectation indicators —and 4 out of the 6 current situation indicators— improved over the previous month.
 
Expectations

Businesses' product demand expectations for the next 3 months remained in optimistic territory at 62 points in June. 

Also on the optimistic trend were personnel recruitment (51 points) and company situation (61 points) expectations for the next 3 months, BCR underlined.

The survey also revealed businessmen's expectations about the sector —for the next 12 months— inched up two points to 65, whereas the same index for the next 3 months stood at 57 points. 

Similarly, their expectations regarding the economic situation in the next 3 and 12 months were optimistic at 53 and 65 points, respectively.  
 
Current situation

In terms of companies' current situation, the sales indicator edged up from 54 points (May) to 56 points (June). 

Likewise, enterprises' purchase orders grew over the previous month and reached 54 points, as did the production level indicator.
