Peru's Prime Minister Mercedes Araoz disclosed the Government of Pedro Pablo Kuczynski will request special powers to legislate on economic and defense matters.
The announcement was made as she presented her administration's guidelines to seek a
vote of confidence in Congress.
Araoz said she will submit a formal request in the coming days.
With regard to defense and disaster risk prevention, legislative powers will include measures to strengthen and reform the defense sector.
Likewise, special powers will be used to optimize the National Defense System and strengthen the Disaster Risk Management System in the country.
In economic terms, the special powers request seeks to consolidate economic recovery and adopt international practices for Peru's accession to the OECD.
The Cabinet chief was joined by the entire Ministerial Cabinet as she addressed lawmakers.
