Peru and Argentina will work together to strengthen the economic complementation agreement uniting both nations, President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski announced on Friday.

Remarks were made after holding a meeting with Argentinean President Mauricio Macri in Buenos Aires.

According to the Head of State, there are pending issues that both countries will try to solve as soon as possible, including the price range for corn and biodiesel.

Within this framework, he thanked his Argentinean counterpart for hosting him at Casa Rosada (Pink House) presidential palace.

Likewise, he highlighted the "tremendous development" currently taking place in that country, as well as the good relations with Peru both, in cultural and economic fields.

Peru's top official indicated that —culturally— his nation wants to strengthen Argentina's presence in the celebrations for its Independence Bicentennial in 2021, considering the crucial role played by Argentinean General Jose de San Martin in such movement.

"We have ideas that we have outlined in the conversation, and we will see how to develop them," he said.

Growth in the region

Mr. Kuczynski also mentioned the region needs to resume its growth. Thus, it is necessary to push the growth of economies within the framework of freedom and democracy, a simple recipe, but of complex execution.

"The recipe is freedom, investment, infrastructure, growth and —along with that— social progress; otherwise, people will not join us [...]. Execution —as we know— is more difficult," he stated.

Finally, the Peruvian president wished President Macri success in his efforts to move Argentina forward.
