Peruvian Ambassador to Japan Harold Forsyth on Wednesday met with Takahiro Nakamae, the new Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau Director-General at Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The government officials addressed priority topics on the countries' agenda, highlighting the excellent level and special significance of the
bilateral relation to both Peru and Japan.
Forsyth and Nakamae also agreed to continue to reinforce said ties, with particular focus on Japanese companies' involvement in Peruvian
infrastructure projects.
In this sense, Director Nakamae stressed Peru's major role in Japanese foreign policy, as well as the relevance of further consolidating such strategic partnership.
The Japanese official also reiterated his country's support to the Inca nation's bid to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
As is known, Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski last March thanked the people of Japan for the
delivery of humanitarian aid to landslide and flood-affected families in Peru.
The Peru-Japan Countervalue Fund last April presented a generous
18-ton relief donation to Peru's National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) to assist natural disaster victims.
