Guerrero confident about Peru's performance at 2018 World Cup

17:09 | Buenos Aires (Argentina), Mar. 13.

Peru's top striker Paolo Guerrero is confident the national soccer team will play as equals against its opponents and that the squad will make it to the round of sixteen at the 2018 World Cup.

"If the team remains focused on the [first] three matches, I believe we can make it to the round of sixteen," Guerrero told State-run channel TV Peru.

Likewise, the 34-year-old pointed out the Inca squad must not be afraid of any challenger, as it has to compete with the same strategy and enthusiasm as its opponents.

He also noted there is no favoritism in soccer nowadays. Thus, the forward believes the red-white has chances to move to the next phase.

As is known, Peru will make its debut at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia against Denmark on June 16. Afterwards, the Inca squad will face France (June 21). Later, it will play Australia (June 26).

In this sense, Guerrero affirmed the first match —against Denmark— will be highly important to Peruvian players.

"I believe the game might be favorable [to us], as long as the national team remains focused," he expressed.

The Predator concluded by saying the Incas are "technically better" than Denmark.
