Out of the five teams that Peru must meet in
friendlies prior to the 2018 World Cup, Scotland is the side the Incas have faced more times in history.
Peruvians and Scottish have met three times in total, both in friendly and World Cup matches.
As is known, the Peru-Scotland
game is slated for May 29 at Lima's National Stadium and marks the red-white team's farewell match in the Inca country.
The first time the
national squad faced Scotland was on April 26, 1974. Held in Glasgow, the friendly ended in a 2-0 defeat to the European side.
Later,
Peru beat Scotland 3-1 at the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. Former player
Teofilo Cubillas showed an outstanding performance at that game.
The third clash —a friendly— took place in Glasgow on 12 September 1979 and ended in a 1-1 draw.
Therefore, this will be the fourth time
Peru and Scotland will face each other.
